Spa Sanitation and Filtration

Spa sanitation and water clarity is probably the trickiest part of maintaining your spa. There are many different ways to keep the water safe and clean and unfortunately some will do damage to your spa. And there are many different filtration and sanitation systems on the market, some good, and some not very good at all.

In my 30 years of experience repairing spas I have come to the conclusion that no one process works for everyone, so you have to find out how the spa is used and who uses it, and then come up with a plan to suit the customer.

For example, a spa that get lots of use with small children in and out regularly will have a completely different sanitation requirements than a single person who only uses the spa every so often. The trick is to find a balance between keeping the water safe and clean and not damaging the spa with overuse of chemicals and not having to run the spa for long periods of time.

I have also seen spas straight off the factory floor with very poor filtration and sanitation design unbeknown to the customer that if not repaired will give years of frustration trying to keep the water clean.

Most of the time it can be easily repaired if you know what to look for.
