Urban Pumps have many years experience repairing and upgrading swim spas. We are your swim spa repair specialist.  Swim spas can be tricky to repair especially if installed under a deck, but we always find a way to get the job done.

Taking care of the swim spa can also be challenging. Do you treat it as a pool or as a spa? If you have a swim spa with a single body of water then you will find its more like having a swimming pool than a spa, as the volume of water is maybe 4 or more times greater than a spa, and the temperature you run it at is 28-30 degrees.  Swimming in 38 degree water can be very uncomfortable.

If you have a dual zone spa (2 bodies of water), then you have both a spa and a pool in one.  In most cases you can treat the 2 bodies of water differently because each body of water has its own control system and filtration/sanitation system.

And 1500 litres of hot water in a spa has a different filtration and sanitation profile than a 6000 litre warm water pool. There is no one way that works for everyone and it can depend on the quality of the sanitation system and the construction of the filtration system.

The quality of the water will be a result of the circumstances of the situation. Who uses the spa? How often do they use it? And how good are the filtration and sanitation systems.

I would highly recommend having a heat pump for a swim spa as running costs with a conventional heating element can be very expensive.

Believe it or not some swim spas come with a heating element not much bigger that a heating element on a kettle meaning it can take a long time to heat up.

A heat pump heats the water faster and will do it using a lot less electricity.
