Complete refurbishment of 5 very old LA spas
This is a run down of the work we did at a commercial premises in the city. Unfortunately, the 5 spas were getting multiple leaks on an ongoing basis and due to the layout of the premises we could not remove or replace the spas. It was decided the best way forward was to completely strip away all the plumbing and fit new jets, suctions and all the other associated plumbing on each of the spas. It was completed over a 2 year period working around all the other work we had going on at the time.
Firstly, we had to remove all the spray on foam insulation from the spa and then we can start removing all the plumbing and jets. It normally takes about 2 days’ work just to get everything off the spa.
Then we must clean up the surfaces that each new jet or suction will be sealed to.
The spa below left is ready for the new jets and plumbing. All that’s left of the original spa is an Acrylic-fiberglass shell and the framework supporting the shell, there is nothing else attached.
On the right we have started plumbing the suctions and sealing the jet bodies to the spa.
Then we plumb up the jets to the manifolds and then to the pumps. Each jet body has 2 hoses glued to the body 1 for air and 1 for water and also 1 glued joint back at the manifold. Added up all together the 5 spas have about 2000 points at which we could have a faulty seal but overall, we only ended up with 2 to 3 leaks total over the whole refurbishment.
